Tullis Russell "Wrap" For Safety

Marlyn Livingston, MSP presents Graeme Hutchison with the Fife Regional Shield

A Fife apprentice has produced an innovative custom-built paper wrapper holder and scooped the Fife Regional “Safety” Shield for Tullis Russell the Fife based paper manufacturer.

The Fife Chamber of Safety presented the award to apprentice Graeme Hutchison, for his invention which created a highly effective solution to hold loose rolls of paper wrap.

Graeme, was tasked with coming up with a solution which would make the storage of the rolls safer, whilst still making them accessible and easy to use. He created a fixed vertical pole, attached to a base plate onto which the rolls could be held securely. A second platform allows it to rotate resulting in a safe and simple means for operators to remove any required amount of paper.

Nick Fedo, Operations Director for Tullis Russell said “This is great news for the company and for safety. Graeme’s design is now in place and working and has made a significant improvement to safety in this area.”
